“A Caregiver’s Real Worth”

Even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not; you are of more value than many sparrows. Luke 12:7

A weary caregiver recently commented, “I do the same thing every single day.  Dispense medications.  Change lines. Do laundry.  Suddenly it is time for the next round of pills and a diaper change.  I try my best to prepare special dietary meals between being available whenever he/she calls.  They probably appreciate me, but just once, I wish I could hear those words.  Friends send cards and come come to see her.  They seem to forget that I even exist.  There are days I just feel worthless!”

Because of the intense demands on caregivers, there is little time for them to be refreshed through personal pursuits or to take care of themselves.  Through their own eyes they may appear worthless.  However, looking at themselves through Christ’s grace-filled eyes offers them a view of their worth beyond all comprehension!

Caregiver, your Creator knows the number of hairs left in your comb today and the number left on your head!  An average heart pumps between 1,500 to 2,000 gallons of blood daily, but God knows exactly how much blood your hear pumped today and even the amount of blood you lose from a tiny scratch!

God loved what he made with His hands so much that He took on human flesh in a womb so He could suffer and die to redeem us.  Jesus did not die for sparrows.  He died for you!  Never doubt your worth!  Caregiver, your worth is not in what you do but in who are are:  God’s redeemed child!           God’s child – priceless!
