Are You Thirsty?

I know it’s so hard to take time for yourself.  We are so busy working, whether is being a Caregiver,Teacher,Father, Mother, Grandparent, or maybe you can’t pry yourself away from a good movie or t.v. show.   You might be so limited in time to sit down and read God’s word, but you know you are so thirsty for words of comfort.

You’re thinking when will I find a few minutes to sit and quench my thirst, be refilled and refueled so I can keep going?  We know that it takes only a short time being in God’s word to feel His Spirit strengthening our tired, exhausted body, but it’s getting more difficult to snatch even a few minutes to read the bible.  Just like your body our Spirits, soul and heart can become dehydrated.  I think of Summer and that heat and humidity, you know when our bodies do a lot of perspiring and you can’t wait to cool down or get in the house where there is air conditioner.  I think back of Hagar and her son in the wilderness of Beersheba (Genesis 21:14).  I also think of the scripture Psalm 42:1-2 ” As the deer pants for the streams of water, so my soul pants for you.  My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.  When can I go and meet with God?”  We need to recognize our thirst and find a way , even if it’s a few short minutes.

If your a caregiver and it’s hard to get away for a few short minutes, you can read to your clients.  If your a parent try reading to your kids.  There are also many apps for your cell phone to download and read on your lunch break at work.  Or turn off that t.v. if that is the distraction and pick up that Bible and read it.  I promise you it will make all the difference in the world to you once you do.  It will be so refreshing for you.

I pray God will bless those seeds of love that always quench our thirst, for they enable His love and faithfulness to bloom in our heart for the challenges to come.
