Candid Camera Caregivers

“You’re a candid camera caregiver!”  Edie told her friend Julia.  “I’ve watched you for many years, and as a caregiver you witness more than you will ever realize.”

Julia laughed.  “That’s the first time I’ve heard a caregiver described like that.  I don’t think of myself as a witness.  I just take care of Sandy.  Although some days can be very challenging, I still try to take her places with me.  At times I’m embarrassed at the way she does and says things at the grocery store or in a restaurant.  But now that I understand that this is all part of the aging process, and her disease, I’m a lot less stressed.  I just let people think whatever they want.  I know Sandy has a good heart.”

Edie interrupted, “That is exactly what I mean about being on candid camera.  When you least expect that anyone is watching, others see you naturally fulfilling the caregiver’s role and how you react and respond to various situations.  You are making a difference by helping others to see the care-giving season with a new perspective!”

Precious caregiver, just as the Good Samaritan showed mercy and made a difference in the disabled man’s life, Jesus instructs us to “Go, and do likewise” (Luke 10:37)  Making a difference is nothing we do on our own!  It is Christ working in and though us as we glorify Him.  Transformation in our attitude and actions began at our Baptism and continues as we spend time in His word and in prayer.

Christ’s death and resurrection make an eternal difference in our lives!  Because of that hope,, we can walk boldly though the caregiver season witnessing.  His love though our individual uniqueness!   (Isaiah 42:6)

Smile!!  You are a Candid Camera Caregiver!
